“The sooner that we become less impressed with our life, with our accomplishments, with our career, with whatever that prospect is in front of us, the sooner we become less impressed and more involved with these things, the sooner we get a whole lot better at doing them.” — Matthew McConaughey
My new year is off to a good start.
Well… good would be an understatement.
I am finally working as a Habit Coach — living my ikigai and enjoying the heck out of it. It feels fantastic to be of service to others in a meaningful way.
As if that wasn’t enough, the universe conspired to bring me together with the love of my life this week — a tryst with my destiny!
I can’t help but be impressed at how amazing life is right now. I can’t help but be a little impressed with myself too. It’s all a bit unbelievable…
“‘Unbelievable’ is the stupidest word in the dictionary. Should never come out of our mouths. Give others and yourself more credit. It just happened, you witnessed it, you just did it, believe it.” — Matthew McConaughey
But I do believe — I believe that life can be this good and that it can get better still in the days, weeks, months, and years to come!
There will be challenges along the way, but those challenges are just opportunities, really. There will be roadblocks along the way, but those roadblocks are just green lights, really.
I am not a mere optimist. I am a radical — I have radical hope.
I have radical hope because I have given my Full Fuck Yes to Life.
“We shouldn’t create restrictions on ourselves. A blue ribbon, a statue, a score, a great idea, the love of our life, a euphoric bliss. Who are we to think we don’t deserve or haven’t earned these gifts when we get them?” — Matthew McConaughey
I have considered the facts — the rising seas and heatwaves, political turmoil and religious conflicts, technological disruption and social upheaval. I have considered everything going wrong all at once.
But I still refuse to put restrictions on how amazing life can be. I refuse to believe that we don’t deserve the good, the true, and the beautiful.
The good, the true, and the beautiful are our destiny.
And we have an appointment to keep.
